Mr J. F. Conceicao asked the Minister for Finance if the findings of the Commission of Inquiry on Statistical Activities in Singapore will be made public soon; and to what extent the recommendations of the Commission will be implemented.
Mr Tang See Chim (for the Minister for Finance): Mr Speaker, Sir, it is intended that the Report of the Commission will be made public in the near future.
The recommendations of the Commission appear sound and should be largely implemented, but the actual extent will be determined by my Ministry after consultation with the Ministries and departments affected by these recommendations.
Mr J. F. Conceicao (Katong): Mr Speaker, Sir, how near is the "near future"?
Mr Tang See Chim: Perhaps in a few months' time, Sir, after consultation with the various departments affected by the recommendations.
