BEDOK NEW TOWN (Extension of City Shuttle Service No. 8)

Haji Sha'ari Bin Tadin asked the Minister for National Development and Communications if steps will be taken to extend Service No. 8 of the City Shuttle Service which presently terminates in front of Siglap Post Office to provide a loop service by going into Bedok Highway, Bedok Walk, New Upper Changi Road. Bedok Highway and Upper East Coast Road.

The Senior Minister of State for Communications (Mr Ong Teng Cheong) (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Sir, the City Shuttle Service No. 8 has been extended to serve Bedok New Town. Instead of turning round at Siglap Post Office, CSS No. 8 has been routed into Bedok Plain and Bedok Walk via Upper East Coast Road and Bedok Highway. The opportunity has also been taken to adjust the route of this service to serve residents in the Marine Parade Housing Estate better.

These improvements were implemented last Friday, 25th February, 1977.
