Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether Singapore Airport Terminal Services will be awarded full franchise for all ground handling services when Changi International Airport becomes operational in mid-1980 or whether another handling company will be established either as a private concern or a government-owned enterprise to compete with SATS in the operation of the ground handling activities.

Mr Ong Teng Cheong (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Sir, the question of a franchise for ground handling services is presently under consideration between the Minister for National Development and Communications and the Minister for Finance. The decision on this matter will have regard for the best interests of Singapore as a whole.
