Mr Ng Kah Ting: To ask the Minister for Finance whether he will mark out the north-east coastal area of Punggol into an industrial zone for economic development purposes, and, if so, whether he has any plans to set up industries in that area.

Mr Speaker: Mr Ng Kah Ting.

Mr Yeo Toon Chia: Question No. 32, Sir.

Mr Hon Sui Sen: Sir, the Punggol ares is at present largely zoned for agriculture. It has, therefore, been earmarked for agricultural development in the long term, being in a non-water catchment area, and one of the very few areas in Singapore suitable for pig farming. There are no plans for industrial development in the area. However, industrial lands have been provided in nearby areas such as Loyang and Tampines. Industrial lands are also being set aside in all HDB New Towns.
