HDB ESTATES IN BOON TECK (Low water pressure)

Mr Liew Kok Pun asked the Minister for National Development (a) what measures are being taken to raise the low water pressure in high-rise Housing and Development Board apartments; and (b) when these measures will be taken in Boon Teck Constituency.

Mr Lee Yock Suan (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board will install an additional main pipe with separate downfeed pipes for the top two floors of flats where water pressure is low. To date, improvement works have been completed in 575 blocks and are in progress in another 554 blocks.

In Boon Teck Constituency, improvement works on 29 blocks are already in progress and are expected to be completed in December 1982. Tender has also been called for works on the remaining 12 blocks in Boon Teck Constituency. These works will be completed in the first quarter of 1983.
