Encik Othman bin Haron Eusofe asked the Minister for National Development what measures the Housing and Development Board is taking to improve the water pressure of the upper floor units of the flats in the Geylang East and Haig Road Estates, and when these measures will be implemented as the present low water pressure is causing considerable inconvenience to residents.
Mr Lee Yock Suan (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, in Geylang Serai Constituency, additional main pipes with separate downfeed pipes will be installed in 31 blocks to increase the water pressure at the upper floors. Tenders for 18 blocks in Geylang East and four blocks in Haig Road have been called. Work on these blocks is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 1983. Tenders for the remaining nine blocks in Haig Road are scheduled to be called in October 1982 and works to be completed in mid-1983.
