Mr P. Selvadurai asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Culture if there were any special reasons for the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation not telecasting the National Current Affairs Quiz 1983 organised by the People's Association and concluded on 16th July, 1983.

Mr S. Dhanabalan: In mid-November 1981, the People's Association wrote to SBC in connection with telecasting the 1982 Current Affairs Quiz series. After studying the matter, SBC decided against recording the Quiz for telecast because it felt that the subject matter and the approach proposed would not make for a good TV series.

In 1983, the People's Association did not approach SBC on telecasting the Current Affairs Quiz. But the finals of the series was covered in SBC's TV news.
