Mr Yeo Choo Kok asked the Minister for Education whether there are plans for maximum usage of school sports facilities by the community in the evenings and during school holidays.

Mr Tang Guan Seng (for the Minister for Education): I am replying on behalf of the Minister.

Community organizations today have access to school facilities, like fields and halls, for recreational purposes after school hours or during school holidays. Many grassroots organizations, like CCCs, CCMCs and RCs, are making use of these facilities for their activities. To ensure that school facilities are properly and responsibly used, only requests from registered organizations can be considered.

If any CCC, CCMC, RC or private registered organization wants to use school sports facilities, they should approach the school principal to make the necessary arrangements.
