Mr Chew Heng Ching asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board has any plan to increase the prices of flats in 1987.

The Minister of State for National Development (Dr Lee Boon Yang) (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Deputy Speaker, I am answering on behalf of my Minister.

Sir, there is no plan to increase the base price of HDB flats this year. But a more rational pricing system that will better reflect the differences in market values of flats because of immediate surroundings, height, view and orientation is under consideration. If such a system is found feasible, it will be implemented in stages.
