Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for Education whether there is any plan to develop the area occupied by the former Pasir Panjang Primary School.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education (Mr Tang Guan Seng) (for the Minister for Education): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am answering on behalf of my Minister.
The site of the former Pasir Panjang Primary School is earmarked for school development in four to five years' time. In the meantime, the premises will be available for appropriate uses on TOL.
Encik Abbas Abu Amin (Pasir Panjang): Supplementary question, Sir. Is there a plan to build another primary school in the Constituency, as two primary schools in Pasir Panjang have already closed down within the last five years?
Mr Tang Guan Seng: After the closing down of Pasir Panjang Primary School and Labrador Primary School, there is another primary school in the Member's Constituency. We have built one new primary school named Jagoh Primary School, which is about 1.5 km away from his Constituency, which will be able to cater for the needs of the students.
