Mr Yeo Choo Kok asked the Minister for Communications and Information (a) how many taxi kiosks are there as at the latest convenient date; (b) who own these kiosks; and (c) whether these kiosks are being properly managed, maintained and made use of.

The Senior Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications and Information (Mr Ho Kah Leong) (for the Minister for Communications and Information): Sir, I am answering on behalf of my Minister.

There are 31 taxi kiosks in Singapore, 10 of which are owned by the NTUC Comfort. The rest are owned by individual groups of taxi drivers who elect committees to organize and manage the kiosks. Generally, all the kiosks are properly managed, maintained and used.

Mr Yeo Choo Kok: Sir, are these individual taxi groups duly registered with the Registry of Societies?

Mr Ho Kah Leong: All these taxi kiosks are registered with the ROV. Whether or not they are registered with the Registry of Societies, I do not have this information.
