Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for Communications and Information what is the detailed plan for the bus interchange to be built at Buona Vista Mass Rapid Transit station.

Mr Ho Kah Leong (for the Minister for Communications and Information): Sir, I am answering on behalf of my Minister.

Last year, I informed hon. Members that the HDB will be building a bus interchange next to the Buona Vista MRT Station. The bus interchange was meant to serve the proposed New Town nearby. Since then, the HDB has embarked on a review of the land use around the area.

The need for the bus interchange is therefore also being reviewed. Whatever the outcome of the review, access to the Buona Vista MRT Station would be made as convenient as possible for all commuters.

Encik Abbas Abu Amin: Sir, in the meantime, could the Ministry assist in providing sufficient bus feeder services to the MRT station from the Polytechnic, University as well as the HDB Ayer Rajah Estate?

Mr Ho Kah Leong: Sir, if there are bus operators who are willing to run feeder services and if their applications are approved by the Public Transport Council, then I think the feeder services will be provided. Nevertheless, I shall sound out the Member's suggestion to the bus operators concerned.
