SIMEI HOUSING ESTATE (Provision of Residents' Corner)

Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board will provide concrete tables and benches at the void decks of the flats in Simei Housing Estate.

Mr Peter Sung (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the provision of Residents' Corner, which consists of a table and some stools or benches, was previously a standard feature of Housing and Development Board flats. However, in view of the formation of Town Councils, HDB will now leave it to the Town Council to decide where and whether such a corner will be required to be constructed. My Ministry, however, will provide financial assistance up to a prescribed level for such projects.
