AREA BETWEEN BUONA VISTA MRT STATION AND ROCHESTER PARK AND VACANT LAND ALONG BUONA VISTA ROAD/AYER RAJAH EXPRESSWAY (Development plans)

Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for National Development whether there are plans to develop (i) the area between Buona Vista MRT Station and Rochester Park and (ii) the vacant land along Buona Vista Road and Ayer Rajah Expressway, and whether the vacant areas can be landscaped into temporary parks pending development.

The Minister for National Development (Mr S. Dhanabalan): Mr Speaker, Sir, the area between Buona Vista MRT station and Rochester Park is part of a larger area designated as a sub-regional centre. The site in question is for commercial use, to capitalise on its proximity to the Buona Vista station.

The vacant land along Buona Vista Road and Ayer Rajah Expressway is designated partly for private housing development and partly for open space use. There are no plans to landscape the two vacant sites into temporary parks pending development.
