Mr Cheo Chai Chen asked the Minister for National Development whether public tenders will be called to develop the piece of land between Yishun MRT station and Block 744 within the next two years and, if not, whether the PWD will provide lightings and shelters for the existing pathways.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: The footpath in question is a temporary footpath constructed a few years ago to facilitate pedestrians' movement across the reserve site meant for future development. Although HDB has no plan, as of now, to develop the site within the next two years, it will be a waste of public funds to install lighting and shelters over it, only to have them demolished in a few years' time to make way for development.
