Mr Low Thia Khiang asked the Minister for National Development whether he will list out by (i) location, (ii) block number, (iii) number of blocks and (iv) number of units all those Housing and Development Board flats which are 20 years or older and which have qualified for the Main Upgrading Programme at the time when the policy was decided.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: The Main Upgrading Programme (MUP) is a 15-20 year programme involving more than 300,000 HDB flats of above 17 years old when the policy was announced. The objective is to eventually upgrade all these flats.

However, HDB blocks with high redevelopment potential will be excluded from MUP and redeveloped under the Selective En-Bloc Redevelopment Scheme.
