Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for Communications whether he will give a report on the Land Transport Authority's proposal to extend the Mass Rapid Transit or Light Rail Transport network to Changi Airport.

Mr Mah Bow Tan: In March this year, in response to a similar question from Mr Teo, I informed the House that the Land transport Authority (LTA) was studying the feasibility of extending the MRT Line to Changi Airport.

LTA is reviewing the viability of the project taking into account the more generous, revised financing formula as spelt out in the White Paper on Land Transport, which was endorsed by Parliament in January this year. A decision on whether and when to proceed with the MRT extension to the Airport will be made after LTA has completed its study and submitted its recommendations to Government.
