Dr Teo Ho Pin asked the Minister for the Environment whether his Ministry will consider appointing a list of pest control firms which can be appointed as nominated sub-contractor for all construction projects so as to ensure that environmental and public health management measures are taken at all construction sites.

Mr Yeo Cheow Tong: The suggestion by the Member is in fact being practised. Before construction work begins, the contractor is required by the Ministry of the Environment to engage a qualified pest control firm. The list of qualified firms is reviewed regularly and those that have provided unsatisfactory services will be dropped from it.
