Mr Shriniwas Rai asked the Minister for National Development if he will review the plot ratio of properties near proposed MRT stations so as to maximise the land usage.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: When the North-East MRT line was announced, some private properties near the proposed stations were acquired to facilitate comprehensive redevelopment. This is to enable these lands to be developed to higher intensity so that more people can benefit from living or working near the stations. It will also ensure that the North-East MRT line would become more economically viable.

The revisions to the land use plans for these lands will be made known to the public when the studies are completed.
