SEASON PARKING TICKETS AT RESIDENTS' RATE FOR TAXI HIRERS

Mr Seng Han Thong asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board (HDB) will allow taxi hirers to purchase season parking tickets at residents' rate for car parks in the central area as the majority of taxi drivers are not registered owners of vehicles and thus are unable to enjoy the residents' rate under paragraph 4 of the Parking Places (HDB) Order 1997.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: HDB has been looking into the request by taxi hirers residing in the central area, who do not own their vehicles, to purchase season parking tickets at concessionary or resident's rate. Amendments to clause 4 of the Parking Places (Housing & Development Board) Order need the approval of the Minister for Communications. HDB will support this request and take this up with LTA and Ministry of Communications.
