NORTH-SOUTH EXPRESSWAY
24.
Dr Geh Min asked the Minister for Transport (a) whether the construction of the North-South Expressway will affect any heritage or watch list roads, nature areas or heritage sites; and if so, (b) what measures will be taken to protect them or minimise the impact.
Mr Yeo Cheow Tong: The route of the North-South Expressway (NSE) has not been finalised as the studies are still ongoing. As with the planning for all similar infrastructure projects, the LTA will work with various Government agencies such as URA and NParks, to develop an alignment that will minimise the impact on the environment and heritage areas while meeting the transport needs. Various routes are being studied, as well as the feasibility of running stretches of the expressway underground.
