Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing what is the policy of the Government in regard to the letting out of the Singapore Badminton Hall to applicants for professional purposes.

Dato Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: Mr Speaker, Sir, the policy of Government is that the Singapore Badminton Hall should be used primarily and substantially for the purpose of furthering the game of badminton. It is considered that the staging of professional boxing, wrestling and other matches will be alien to this purpose and permission has accordingly not been given to the general letting of the Hall for professional sport.

An application for any specific purpose, however, can be considered.
