SINGAPORE TRACTION COMPANY, LIMITED (Impending strike) (Request for statement)

Mr A. P. Rajah asked the Minister for Labour and Law if he will make a statement on the impending strike by the employees of the Singapore Traction Company, Limited, on 14th October, 1959.

Mr K. M. Byrne: Mr Speaker, Sir, I do not propose to say anything more than to refer the Member for Farrer Park to the announcement which appeared in the local newspapers this morning, that both parties to the dispute have agreed to refer the dispute to a Board of Arbitration and the matters in dispute are therefore now sub judice.
