Mr A. P. Rajah asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the Manager of the Singapore Airport, on his return to Singapore on the 7th September, 1959, after three months' leave of absence, has not yet resumed the duties of his post, and whether he will make a statement on the matter.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Mr Speaker, Mr Ford was recalled to answer certain disciplinary charges. He duly reported for duty on 9th September and he was interdicted from duty on 19th September. He is now facing a charge of gross negligence in the performance of his duties. A Tribunal is being constituted under the chairmanship of a Judge. In these circumstances, I think, in fairness to this officer, I shall refrain from making any public statement.
