Mr Chow Chiok Hock asked the Minister for Law and National Development whether and when public standpipes will be installed in (a) Kampong Water House, off Bukit Timah Road, 6½ m.s.; and (b) Kampong Tani.
Mr Barker: Mr Speaker, Sir, proposals to install two stand pipes in Kampong Water House, off Bukit Timah Road, 6½ m.s., were approved by the U.R.S.C. three years ago. But the scheme has been delayed because of objections by the landowners, Messrs. Fred Waterhouse Co. Ltd.
Answer to part (b): the houses in Kampong Tani are unauthorised and no standpipes can, therefore, be installed.
