Mr Tang See Chim asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that Mr H. F. 0. Leembruggen in a letter to the Straits Times published on 2nd September, 1967, stated that the reasons given to the House by the Minister of State, Prime Minister's Department, on 29th June, 1967, in reply to a Question on Mr Leembruggen's resignation from the Civil Service were not correct and whether he will clarify the matter.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: I am aware that Mr Leembruggen in a letter to the Straits Times published on the 2nd September this year stated that the reasons given to the House by the Minister of State, Prime Minister's Department, regarding his refusal of promotion and subsequent resignation from the Civil Service were not correct. Mr Leembruggen might have other reasons known only to himself. Those given in the reply to the House were the ones determined from him at that time and were also consistent with the circumstances of his case.
