Mr P. Govindaswamy asked the Minister for Finance (a) how many factories are now in operation at the Jurong Industrial Estate and how many workmen are employed by them; and (b) how many such factories have closed down or ceased operation.
Dr Goh Keng Swee: There are 94 factories in operation in Jurong employ, ing 8,800 persons. No factory in Jurong has closed down or ceased operation.
