BEDOK NORTH ROAD (Pedestrian crossing and slip road)

Encik Yatiman Yusof asked the Minister for National Development whether his Ministry has any plan to construct (i) a tunnel along Bedok North Road connecting the area opposite Block 54, Chai Chee Street and Block 542, Bedok North, and (ii) a slip road at the junction of Bedok North Road and Bedok North Avenue 1.

The Minister for National Development (Mr Teh Cheang Wan): Mr Speaker, Sir, the PWD will be providing a pedestrian crossing across Bedok North Road in the vicinity of Block 54 Chai Chee Street and Block 542 Bedok North Street 3 in the second half of this year. The type of crossing to be provided will depend on the outcome of the site studies currently in progress.

The PWD has started the construction of a slip road at the junction of Bedok North Road and Bedok North Avenue 1 as part of the overall scheme to improve the traffic flow at the junction, The work will be completed in about two months' time.
