Encik Yatiman Yusof asked the Minister for National Development whether his Ministry has finalized the plan for Pachitan Estate on the number and types of flat it intends to build and whether there will be enough facilities for the proposed neighbourhood.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, Pachitan Estate will have about 1,000 units of 4-room, 5-room and Executive flats. There will also be a badminton court and two children's playgrounds. Tenders will be called in early 1986 for completion by early 1988. As Pachitan Estate will only have 1,000 dwelling units, it will not be able to sustain a neighbourhood centre with shopping facilities. However, at a later stage when an MRT station is built nearby, a neighbourhood centre with shops, a supermarket and other facilities will be developed.
