Dr Lau Teik Soon asked the Minister for National Development whether he is aware of the parking problem along Serangoon Garden Way and what steps are being taken to solve the problem.
Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, there are 286 paying parking lots in Serangoon Garden Estate. These lots are in the vicinity of Serangoon Garden Circus where the shops, food establishments, a cinema, a market and a post office are located. My Ministry is aware that the demand for car parks has increased recently and, at times, drivers who are unable to find a proper parking lot are leaving their vehicles along Serangoon Garden Way.
I have instructed URA and PWD to look into this problem more closely and in consultation with the Serangoon Garden Citizens' Consultative Committee. I have no doubt that together they would be able to resolve this problem soon.
