Mr Chiam See Tong asked the Minister for National Development how much compensation has been paid for the acquisition of all the land at the Potong Pasir Estate.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board paid a total of $181,147,432 for all the land at the Potong Pasir Estate.

Mr Chiam See Tong (Potong Pasir): Supplementary question. What is the acreage of the land acquired by the HDB at Potong Pasir Estate?

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, I do not have the exact information requested by the Member. However, I think the Member is more interested in whether the HDB flats at Potong Pasir Estate were subsidized by Government.

Mr Chiam See Tong: Mr Speaker, Sir, we go one question at a time. I want to know what is the area of the land acquired. May I suggest a figure to the Minister, that the Potong Pasir area acquired is 47 hectares, which come to just over 51 million square feet. Is that correct?

Mr Speaker: Mr Chiam, you ask a question and you give the answer yourself.

Mr Chiam See Tong: I am suggesting to the Minister that that is the area. I want him to answer.

Mr Speaker: Since you know the answer, why ask a supplementary question?

Mr Chiam See Tong: Is that the correct area? Because then we would know what is the value of the land per square foot.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, as I have said just now, I do not have the exact information. If the Member is interested in this information, he can put in another question for the next Parliamentary sitting, either for an Oral Answer or a Written Answer. But today he has asked a question on the total amount of money paid by HDB for the land at Potong Pasir Estate, and I have given him the answer.

Mr Chiam See Tong: I would suggest to the Minister that the area is just over 51 million square feet.

Mr Speaker: Where is your supplementary question, Mr Chiam?

Mr Chiam See Tong: All right, I will just put in a Question for Oral Answer.
