Mr S. Vasoo asked the Minister for Health if there are plans to introduce a medical insurance scheme through the Medisave contributions.
Dr Hu Tsu Tau: The Ministry is working with various insurance companies on a medical insurance scheme to cover certain major, high cost medical conditions. This catastrophic medical insurance scheme will complement the Medisave Scheme, and policy holders will use part of their Medisave contributions to pay the prescribed premiums. Details of the scheme are expected to be finalised by the end of this year.
