Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether there was an increase in the number of secret society and criminal activities involving students in the years 1986, 1987 and 1988.

The Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs (Dr Lee Boon Yang) (for the Minister for Home Affairs): Mr Speaker, Sir, student involvement in crimes showed a decline from 266 arrests in 1986 to 217 in 1987 and 203 in 1988.

A total of 21 secret society incidents were reported from 1986 to 1988. However, only 2 students were involved.
