OVERHEAD SHELTER

Mr Cheo Chai Chen asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board will consider constructing a shelter for the overhead bridge linking Blocks 613 and 789 at Yishun Ave 2, including a shelter each for these two blocks.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: As the overhead pedestrian bridge is maintained by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), my Ministry will refer the MP's suggestion to the LTA for their consideration.

As regards covered linkways and shelters for existing HDB blocks, it is the Town Council's responsibility to maintain and manage the common property of the HDB housing estates, including making improvements such as providing linkways and shelters. Therefore, HDB does not carry out such improvement works.

The Town Council will need to seek approval from the relevant authorities before commencement of such works.
