Mr Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik asked the Minister for National Development (a) what measures are in place to prevent unauthorised or improper access to sensitive housing records and databases by HDB officers; and (b) whether these measures have been independently reviewed and found to be adequate.

Mr Chee Hong Tat: The Housing and Development Board officers are granted access only to the systems and information required for the performance of their official duties. System access and activities are logged, allowing irregular patterns and unauthorised access to be detected and investigated.

These controls comply with the Government Instruction Manuals on information technology security and data protection. Compliance is also checked through periodic audits.
