Miss Rachel Ong asked the Minister for National Development in respect of the proposed western island (a) what marine biodiversity and hydrodynamic baseline studies will precede selection of reclamation boundaries; (b) whether an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will assess cumulative impacts on reefs and marine connectivity; and (c) whether marine scientists, nature groups and affected sea users will be consulted early when scoping studies and evaluating alternatives.

Mr Chee Hong Tat: This question was addressed in the Ministry of National Development’s reply to the questions asked by Dr Charlene Chen, Ms He Ting Ru, Mr Low Wu Yang Andre, and Mr Sharael Taha on 8 September 2026.
