Mr Alex Yeo asked the Minister for National Development (a) what is the status of the review of the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act to better enable Management Corporations Strata Titles (MCSTs) to upgrade their developments, including plans for MCSTs to tap on the Building and Construction Authority's Accessibility Fund; and (b) whether the Ministry will consider requiring MCSTs to set aside a proportion of monthly maintenance fees in the sinking fund for essential works, such as lift replacements.

Mr Chee Hong Tat: The Building and Construction Authority has completed a public consultation on the ongoing review of the Building (Strata Management) Act. One area we are studying is how Management Corporations Strata Title can be better supported to plan for and accumulate sinking funds for essential maintenance and upgrading works.
