Inche Ahmad Bin Ibrahim asked the Minister for Communications and Works what efforts are being made for the installation of private telephones in the outlying districts of Singapore.
Mr Francis Thomas: The Telephone Board has a five-year development plan to meet present and prospective demands for telephones in all parts of the island, provided that adequate staff and finance are available. I do not think it would be right for me to give details of the Board's plans, but I am arranging with the Chairman of the Board for a report to be laid before this Assembly in the very near future.
