Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Minister for Labour and Welfare if he is aware that Japanese girls are being permitted to enter the Colony to be secondary wives of local residents; and why this is being allowed.

Mr Lim Yew Hock: Mr Speaker, Sir, I am not aware of any such case. The second part of the question asked by the Member for Queenstown therefore does not arise.

Mr Lee Choon Eng: Mr Speaker, Sir, can the Hon. Minister tell us then what is the policy of the Government regarding entry of wives from China if the applicant has got a wife in Singapore?

Mr Speaker: That is a different question.
