RESIGNATION OF A MEMBER

Mr Speaker: I have formally to announce to Honourable Members that on the 13th day of June, 1958, I received a letter from Mr G. A. P. Sutherland, resigning his seat as a Nominated Member in this Assembly as from that date.

In accordance with the provisions of section 50 of the Singapore Colony Orders in Council, 1955 and 1956, I reported the vacancy thus created to His Excellency the Governor; and, as Honourable Members are aware, His Excellency has appointed Mr J. M. Mason to be a Nominated Member of this Assembly to fill the vacancy.
