Mr Lee Kuan Yew asked the Chief Secretary what is the purpose of spending money printing in the 25th issue (1st June, 1958) of the Directory of the Colony of Singapore a list of all past Governors, Colonial Secretaries, Chief Justices and Attorneys-General of the Straits Settlements and Singapore, and Certificates of Honours (Rules and Awards).
Mr E. B. David: Sir, the current issue of the Directory includes the contents of a publication previously issued separately under the title of "Miscellaneous lists and public bodies". The object of combining the two publications was economy. The information to which the hon. Member refers formerly appeared in the latter publication.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew: Does it not appear to the Hon. the Chief Secretary to be highly inappropriate?
Mr Speaker: It is a matter of opinion.
