Mr J. M. Jumabhoy: Hon. Members will recollect my Written Answer in this House on 3rd December last year on the question of the suspension of imports of certain grades of Chinese textiles. I promised then that I would review this question before the expiry of the three-month period on 27th January as agreed with the Federation Government.
Accordingly, I have reconsidered the matter and am happy to announce that the Singapore Government will remove this suspension as from 28th January, 1959.
I may add that the Federation Government appreciate our assistance and have expressed their thanks for our co-operation.
