Mr David Marshall (Anson) asked the Prime Minister whether he has received any representation from the United Kingdom Commissioner with reference to his speech made in the Assembly on 20th July, 1961, in support of his motion, "That this House expresses its confidence in the Government", and whether he will indicate its nature and contents.
The Prime Minister (Mr Lee Kuan Yew): Mr Speaker, Sir, as I said in my radio broadcast of 27th September this year - and I quote my words:
"The British have more experience in dealing with such delicate situations. Whatever embarrassment our exposure caused them they have said absolute]y nothing and thereby saved themselves from further embarrassment."
Ever since this broadcast, I have received no representation from the United Kingdom Commissioner with reference to my speech in this Assembly on 20th July.
