Mr David Marshall asked the Minister for Finance whether he will consider sending an exploratory Trade Mission to New Delhi and/or Peking and whether he would indicate the probable cost of such mission to either capital.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Sir, if the Member for Anson will set Out the reasons therefor and the advantages accruing to the people of Singapore, I will certainly consider any exploratory Trade Mission whether to New Delhi and/or Peking and/or Casablanca and or the centre of any Western, Eastern or neutral bloc of nations.

Mr David Marshall: Are we to understand from the Minister that he sees no advantage in such an exploratory Mission?

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Sir, since the Member for Anson last raised this subject sometime last year, I have been waiting for a submission from him to inform me of the advantages to the people of Singapore of the course of action he is suggesting.

Mr David Marshall: Would the Minister indicate his reply to the second part of the question?

Dr Goh Keng Swee: The second part does not arise.
