Inche Mohd. Ariff Bin Suradi asked the Minister for Law and National Development whether the Government will give first priority to requests for rural development projects, such as the improvement of roads, drainage, street-lighting and other public amenities for the Kampong Kembangan Constituency.

Mr Ho Cheng Choon (for the Minister for Law and National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, priority is usually given to projects that are urgently required. On this basis each request from the Kampong Kembangan Constituency for improvement of roads, drainage, street lighting, and other public amenities will be considered.

Inche Mohd. Ariff (Kampong Kembangan): (In Malay): Can the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for National Development say what are the types of projects which are considered as urgently required?

Mr Ho Cheng Choon: The urgent projects which require immediate attention are, for example, a road which is in a very bad condition, having a lot of pot-holes, and usually Government will give this their immediate attention.
