TECHNICAL SCHOOL IN SEMBAWANG

Mr Teong Eng Siong asked the Minister for Education whether the Government has any plans to set up a Technical School in the Sembawang Constituency.

Mr Ong Pang Boon: Mr Speaker, Sir, there are no plans for the building of secondary schools in the Sembawang area under the Second Plan.

However, it is proposed to put up extensions to the Naval Base Full School which will convert it into a multi-purpose secondary school. This conversion will enable it to take in twice as many secondary students as it now has. There will also be facilities for vocational and technical education in this school in accordance with our latest trends in educational development.
