Mr Teong Eng Siong asked the Deputy Prime Minister whether the Government has any plan to build a post office or set up a postal agency at Kampong Tengah off Sembawang Road 15 m.s. for the convenience of the residents in the area.
The Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Department (Tuan Haji Yaacob Bin Mohamed) (for the Deputy Prime Minister): (In Malay): Mr Speaker, Sir, Government has no plan to build a post office or to establish a postal agency, as adequate postal facilities already exist in the neighbourhood. There is a post office about one and three-quarters of a mile and a stamp vendor about three-quarters of a mile from Kampong Tengah. Further, a mobile post office visits Kampong Tengah once a week to transact all types of postal business.
