Mr Ng Yeow Chong asked the Minister for Health if he will take steps to license the hawkers concentrated at the Housing and Development Board Housing Estate car park near Kampong Arang Road, the majority of whom are residents of the area, and to arrange for them to be re-sited elsewhere in the Housing Estate.

Mr Chor Yeok Eng (for the Minister for Health): (In Mandarin): Mr Speaker, Sir, I am very happy indeed to inform the Member for Mountbatten that the problem of resiting the unlicensed hawkers now operating in the car park near Kampong Arang Road has been fully considered by the Housing and Development Board and that a two-storey hawker centre will be built as soon as possible to accommodate them at Lots 202-4, Mukim 25, off Mountbatten Road, as the operating site for the hawkers. By then, all the hawkers will be sited in this area.
