The Minister for Finance (Mr Lim Kim San): Mr Speaker, Sir, I rise to move,
That this House, pursuant to subsection (3) of section 5 of the Registration of Imports and Exports Ordinance (Cap. 261), resolves that the Registration of Imports and Exports (Amendment) Rules, 1966, published as Notification No. S 233 in the Gazette Supplement No. 85 of 28th October, 1966, as contained in Paper S.L. 61 of 1966, be approved.
Under the existing Registration of Imports and Exports Rules, 1935, the Singapore Armed Forces, including the Police Force, are requested to declare their imports and exports. It is imperative that information concerning weapons and ammunition imported by the Singapore Armed Forces should be kept secret. The amendment to Rule 14 will exempt the Singapore Armed Forces, including the Police Force, from declaring their imports and exports.
Sir, I beg to move.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That this House, pursuant to subsection (3) of section 5 of the Registration of Imports and Exports Ordinance (Cap. 261), resolves that the Registration of Imports and Exports (Amendment) Rules, 1966, published as Notification No. S 233 in the Gazette Supplement No. 85 of 28th October, 1966, as contained in Paper S.L. 61 of 1966, be approved.
