TOA PAYOH HOUSING ESTATE (Post Office)

Mr Eric Cheong Yuen Chee asked the Minister for Communications when the Government will build a post office at the Toa Payoh Housing Estate in view of the rapid increase in the number of residents in that area and the policy of the Government to encourage savings with the Post Office Savings Bank.

Mr Yong Nyuk Lin: Mr Speaker, Sir, the Postal Services Department plans to establish a delivery post office in the town centre of the Toa Payoh Housing Estate to provide the full range of postal facilities to the residents living in this estate. It is expected to operate the post office in rented premises for a change in a large building complex which is due to be constructed in the latter half of 1969.
